NSF-JST Workshop

We are delighted to share that the NSF-JST Workshop on "Secure and Resilient Smart Living CPS" was successfully held on July 2-3, 2024, in Osaka, Japan. This workshop was organized in conjunction with the IEEE Conference on Smart Computing (SMARTCOMP), which took place from June 29 to July 1, 2024, at the Osaka International Conference Center.
The workshop aimed to:

  • Promoting cross-fertilization, sharing, and exchange of research ideas between the US and Japanese research communities.
  • Identifying potential areas for further collaboration, both around individual research projects and broader themes funded by NSF and JST.
  • Jointly addressing the complexities and challenges of security and resilience in Smart Living CPS.
  • Exploring joint funding initiatives to support impactful US-Japan collaborative research.

During the workshop, several distinguished speakers from our lab presented their work:

  • Prof. Hirozumi Yamaguchi delivered a talk titled “Digital Transformation and Knowledge Sharing Platforms: Empowering Regional Communities.”
  • Associate Professor Akira Uchiyama presented on “Wireless Sensing for Maintenance-free Context Recognition.”
  • Associate Professor Hamada Rizk participated as a distinguished panelist in the session titled "Panel Discussions: Is AI a Blessing or Curse in Creating a Smarter Society?"
