The IEEE Japan Medal is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of electrical and electronic engineering in Japan. Established in 1949, the medal is awarded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of electrical and electronic engineering or related fields in Japan.
The IEEE Japan Medal is awarded annually, and recipients are selected based on their exceptional contributions to the field. To be eligible for the award, nominees must have made significant achievements in the field of electrical and electronic engineering or related fields, such as computer science, physics, or mathematics. Nominees must also have a strong record of research publications and be recognized as leaders in their field.
The award is open to individuals of any nationality, but nominees must have made their contributions to the field while working in Japan. The IEEE Japan Medal committee, which is composed of prominent engineers and scientists in Japan, evaluates each nominee based on their contributions to the field, the quality and impact of their research, and their leadership in the field.
Recipients of the IEEE Japan Medal receive a gold medal, as well as recognition from the IEEE and the broader scientific community. The award ceremony is typically held at the annual meeting of the IEEE Japan Council, and recipients are invited to deliver a lecture on their research.
