We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the 1st JST CREST Workshop on Smart City Data and Platforms, held on September 23rd-24th in the stunning city of Hurghada, Egypt! This event provided a dedicated platform for in-depth discussions on urban data utilization and the innovative platforms driving the realization of smart cities.
In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the workshop explored various facets of smart cities, including urban sustainability, resource management, resilient infrastructure, and community engagement. Throughout the event, we delved into groundbreaking advancements and critical challenges that define the landscape of smart cities.
Our objectives extended beyond discussion, as we actively facilitated conversations about potential collaborations in key domains such as urban and smart mobility, regional and personal data security and privacy, secure middleware, and explainable AI for residents. This provided an invaluable opportunity for diverse research organizations and teams to explore potential cooperation avenues.
This workshop was generously funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) under the project "A Secure Platform for Smart City Data and Knowledge Sharing." However, the scope of our discussions went beyond the project, encompassing broader research issues that influence the evolution of smart cities.
