With the retirement of Prof. Higashino, the Mobile Computing Laboratory in the Department of Information Networking at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology started as the "Yamaguchi Laboratory" under the leadership of Prof. Hirozumi Yamaguchi, with 7 faculty members, 2 administrative staff, 5 doctoral students, 11 master's students, and 6 fourth-year undergraduate students.
