Abstract

This study addresses the optimization of antenna array radiation patterns, aiming to realize Direct-to-Cell satellite communication using PicoSats, while accounting for position and pose errors in each antenna. We define an objective function based on the main lobe gain and directivity, and apply Simulated Annealing (SA) to find the optimal amplitude and phase values under these error conditions. Simulations for arrays up to 20 × 20 elements confirmed SA’s effectiveness in finding solutions, but also highlight a critical scalability issue, as radiation pattern computation is highly resource-intensive.
