On February 15th, 2026, a demonstration experiment regarding evacuation guidance training utilizing artificial intelligence through integrating a smartphone application and television was conducted in Suma Ward of Kobe City.
Furthermore, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and Yahoo News reported this demonstration experiment.

This experiment was organized as part of our laboratory’s CREST project, with the cooperation of Kobe City, and was executed by the Yamaguchi Laboratory of the University of Osaka, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, and Brightechno Inc.

Within the designated area of Kobe City, we asked experiment participants to install the developed smartphone application (iOS version) and (Android version), and they evacuated to the designated shelters while referring to the evacuation-related precautions and guidance provided by the application.
The purpose of this application is not only to support the safe evacuation of individuals but also to enable group evacuations alongside family members, friends, and nearby residents. In the future, while giving due consideration to privacy, we aim to examine the feasibility of realizing an evacuation support system that is more flexible, can be used across all regions, and provides a greater sense of security.
Moreover, to accommodate individuals who may be unfamiliar with smartphone operation, we have proposed a mechanism for providing information via television, thereby working to extend our approach to a broader audience. This fiscal year’s initiative was conducted as the second experiment, following last year’s implementation.
